| As an animal communicator, April
Frost understands the emotional needs as well as physical
needs of your dog while they are separated from you. The
atmosphere here is quiet and home like, not the noise
and chaotic stress atmosphere of the typical boarding
kennel. The kennel and April’s house are connected.
Accommodations:
The dogs have chain link pens
inside. The area where they stay is heated and air conditioned
and adjoins the workshop area. They go out in large
fenced exercise yards 5-6 times a day. There is a 21/2
acre fenced field with a large spring fed pond for the
dogs to swim
in
spring through fall and a two acre fenced field for
winter exercise without a pond to assure your dogs safety.
Weather conditions depend on how long they remain out.
If the weather is not conducive to long play periods
outside they have time to exercise and play in the workshop
area
complete with an assortment of toys. If they get along
well with other dogs they go out in small play groups
with dogs of carefully matched personalities. If they
have issues with other dogs they go out by themselves
and we time outside chores so they have someone to interact
with. The dogs get a lot of attention throughout the
day. Everyone gets a treat just before lights out for
the night The usual number of dogs boarded is 12 to
assure they all get plenty of individual attention.
The only immunization we require
is rabies which we are required to do.
Only natural organic cleaning
products are used, never toxic chemicals.
Clients bring their dogs own food individually
portioned out and labeled. It is always advisable to
keep dogs on the diet they are used to thus preventing
digestive upsets and stress. We welcome raw food diets
and have refrigerators and freezers to accommodate them.
It is a good idea especially during the winter to bring
an extra day or two supply of food in the event the
time of pick up is delayed to plane delays, car problems
or storms with bad driving conditions.
You are welcome to bring a bed or blanket
for your dog as well as a couple of their favorite toys.
Familiar objects and smells help your dog feel more
at home.
If your dog is on any medication please
be sure to bring it clearly labeled as to what it is
and what it is being given for, the dosage and frequency
of administration.
People caring for your pets are knowledgeable
in emergency first aid for dogs should it ever be necessary.
April is able to accommodate dogs with
special needs such as diabetes, epilepsy, paraplegic,
hearing or vision impaired. In dome cases there might
be a small additional charge depending on the amount
of time and supervision that is required.
The current rate is $25 per day, which
is all inclusive. There are no "add on's" for
play periods, giving medications, twice a day feedings
or other special needs your dog may have. You are charged
for the day of arrival regardless of the time you arrive
because we are holding that space for you. If you pick
up between 8 and 9 am you are not charged for the day
of departure.
Grooming and Training are available
by prior arrangement and are an additional cost.
